How often should external fire escapes be inspected? It is recommended that inspections are carried out at least once a year, or more often if required by the building regulations.
As with steps and stairs, they should be inspected each year under PUWER, but it is also recommended that they undertake a more detailed inspection every five years by an experienced technician.
